We love to Contribute to
Circular Aviation

At AELS, we promote a more sustainable future for aviation through circular processes. Our partnerships with SUSTAINair, RecAL, COMPASS, and AETHOS, alongside certifications like ASA and AFRA Diamond Level, enable/allow us to support our clients’ ESG goals.

Dismantled aircraft

Over the years AELS has dismantled dozens of aircraft with precision, recovering valuable parts for reuse.

By reducing the need for new parts, we conserve resources and align with our clients’ environmental and ESG targets. Every dismantled aircraft results in tonnes of repurposed material.

Returning parts to the
aviation industry

Each year, we facilitate the reuse of thousands of aircraft components, contributing to the circular economy. Thanks to this circular approach, we keep aircraft flying without the need for new rar materials.

This reduces environmental impact and helps us to support our clients ESG objectives by extending the life of valuable materials.

Recycled material for new products

In addition to reusing parts, AELS also recycles materials that cannot be reused, converting them into raw materials for other industries. Thanks to this process we have already given over a million kilos of material a new life.

Lowering the demand on natural resources allows us to better support our clients’ environmental goals within the ESG framework.

Innovative reuse for
training and safety

Besides reusing and recycling, we find creative ways to repurpose aircraft components that cannot be returned to service. Cockpits and cabin sections are used for a variety of training  purposes, including pilot and crew simulations, safety drills, and even specialized operations like SWAT training.

By giving these components a second life in training, we not only enhance safety in aviation but also in broader industries. This contributes to our commitment to social responsibility within the ESG framework and a more sustainable world, ensuring that most aircraft parts continue to serve a meaningful purpose.

AELS' Accreditations

At AELS we take our responsibility for the environment seriously. That’s why we are proud to announce that we have consistently achieved and maintained the prestigious AFRA KPI-Level Diamond certification. This certification recognises us as a leader in the responsible and sustainable recycling and dismantling of aircraft. By continuously meeting the highest standards, we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the environment and safety in the aviation industry.

Quality and safety are at the heart of everything we do. As an ASA certified company, AELS adheres to the stringent ASA-100 standard, ensuring that our aviation parts meet the highest levels of quality, traceability and regulatory compliance. This certification reflects our unwavering commitment to providing reliable and safe components to our customers.

AELS' partnerships

The digital technology developed by the COMPASS project aims to revolutionize the remanufacturing of sheet metal and thermoplastic composites. This means a significant reuse of material waste for the production of high-quality components and, in addition, promoting a circular economy in aviation, aerospace and automotive industries.

AELS’ role in the Compass project, is to facilitate the research, innovations and new developments, besides providing a platform for tests and demonstrators. We will use our practical approach to advise on the feasibility of the proposed solutions and innovations.

RecAL is a Horizon Europe project aiming to upgrade Europe’s handling of its aluminium supply and metals market place. Via RecAL’s innovative packet of solutions, we can reduce the carbon footprint of aluminium production by enabling the use of secondary resources – and improve the continent’s self-sufficiency along the way.

Together with RecAL, AELS and other partners strive to create a more sustainable future and reduce the environmental impact of aluminium production.

Based on the circular economy approach, SUSTAINair provides the aviation sector a runway to more cost-effective, low-carbon economy while tackling the increase in resource consumption, waste and emission. Within the project, AELS is the key supplier of the feed stock for research. The materials provided have been tested and converted into new ideas for circular economy.

The Aethos Foundation has a visionary goal: to further improve the recycling of aircraft materials. AELS became friend of Aethos because it is our mission to make aviation more circular by fully recycling end-of-life aircraft materials. This special friendship allows us to take further steps in this process.
